I FOUND IT!

I freakin' found my chapstick.

I've tried the basic ChapStick, Carmex, Softlips, Blistex, LipSmackers...

Or the loved Burt's Bees, the Bath&Body Works C.O. Bigelow's and Savannah Bee's, the different Body Shop flavors, Victoria's Secret...

Or even the expensive dermatologist lip formulas...

But, I freaking found it!!!!!!!!!!

from:http://shefinds.com/blog/images/uploads/LipBalm-Aveeno.jpg

It's Aveeno's Essential Moisture Lip Conditioner with SPF 15. I LOVE IT! It doesn't have the automatic tingle like Softlips or Burt's Bees, but it soothes and moisturizes your lips beautifully. And it doesn't dry out. I enjoy the smell of it too. You can get it at your local Walmart or Target for around 2-3 bucks? I am pretty sure that's the price. I've found happiness after all....

Ode to Perfume

So, this week I will make an 'ode' to a topic per day. That doesn't limit me to solely to showing my blatant love to one item. But it will keep me writing everyday this week...

Since I don't want to write a 10-line stanza in iambic verse... I think I'll solely just speak of the objects in casual form.

Today is perfume. I own three, and want to know what everyone else wears.

My Day Perfume:

from:http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1608/8566580/16112542/246312616.jpg

So, some of us remember when the Victoria's Secret Garden Collection was the really popular. Well, although not pictured there, that exact bottle of perfume came in Romantic Wish. It's a lighter fruit scent, and is perfect for day time. Everyone always tells me I smell really nice and fresh when I wear it.

The reason why I still have this discontinued puppy? I got it junior year of high school, before I really wore perfume. I will be sad when the bottle is gone...

My Always & Forever Perfume:

from: http://ananyah.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/coco.jpg

This bottle is a little obvious, it's Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle. My mom wears this and started when she was around 17. Then, that was passed onto me. I love this classic scent, and all the guy's I've dated agree. It isn't strong, except the first second it's sprayed on. Yet, the scent still is noticeable. This classic will be my mainstay perfume for the rest of my life.

My On/Off Perfume:

from:http://bestbuyup.com/images/Betsey_Johnson%5B1%5D.jpg

I got this Betsey Johnson Perfume last Christmas, and am unsure as to how I feel about it. It's definitely a love/hate relationship. I like the shape of the bottle. Sometimes, though, the scent is a little overwhelming for me and can make me sick. So, I have yet to make a decision as to how I feel about this bottle.

I really want to know what Marc Jacob's Daisy smells like, but it seems like it's a tad overrated. I guess I'll have to see for myself.

A perfume I'd recommend that I don't own would be Fresh's Cannabis Santal. I received a free sample from Barney's the other day, and really love the scent. According to the box, it's:
- top notes are Bergamot, Brazilian Orange, Black Plum.
- heart notes are: Patchouli, Cannabis Accord.
- base notes are Chocolate, Vetiver, and Vanilla Musks.

Yum...

Inspiracíon

Gosh knows how many of these there are. But she's so beautiful... I remember seeing it for the first time at the Palace of Fine Arts. She was in a story book I was given as a little girl.

Yay for Shopping

So it's summer, and there are no excuses for not posting.

I bought a Marc by Marc Jacobs bag today at the Barney's sale. I'm pretty excited, since I don't get the privilege of getting stuff this nice very often! School takes all that money!

photo from shopbop.com

I also went around all of these boutiques and got some small purple and gold simple earrings. Love them, will show them later.

Happy to be back. Ah, the fresh air of the blogosphere.

Kiss Me With Your Sugar Lips

S.W.A.K.

Well, it's time for a review. As I walked around New York City for the past week, I went into Macy*s to look at the flower show a little bit. From there, I walked to the Philosophy counter and picked up this product (not my picture):

It's their lip exfoliator. It is a little grainy and you just rub it on your lips until they feel smooth. Simple instructions, simple product, lovely results. I follow it up with some lip balm, and feel as good as new.

Actually, I have a love-hate relationship with the current balm I am using. I used to have SoftLips in strawberry, and my goal was to finish the entire tube (a feat that I had never accomplished in my LIFE), and when I had a few swipes left I lost it. I could not believe it.

Anyway, so I bought the Savannah Bee in mint julep and like I said, we have an interesting relationship (not my picture once again):

And I've done the vaseline thing, which I don't feel does very much. Any suggestions out there?

Tie-Dye... Gone Wrong, Gone Right.

So the other weekend, my favorite apartment-mate and her friend Chad and I decided to tie-dye. Oh yes. As we prepared to get all the materials, we drove around in his bright yellow VW bus, like in Little Miss Sunshine, while listening to the Remember the Titans CD. Not only that, but it was bright and sunny day outside, and we go to school right on the California Coast.

Could we have anymore of a hippie feeling day?

So we tie-dyed in the backyard with the following colors:
- Wine
- Bright Purple
- Sunshine Yellow / Mustard
- Forest Green
- Blue
- Kelly Green

The shirts came out gorgeous. However, we got a little impatient and wanted to wear them, so we put the shirts in the washing machine before they dried.

Big mistake. The colors faded, and the white parts of the shirt became grey.

But after looking at them for a while, we fell in love with the effect it gave the shirts. They looked like something you could buy at Lucky!. It was so exciting. So, I love them dearly.

What I did for mine was for one of the shirts I did a spiral, with blue, sunshine yellow, forest green & kelly green which now you can see a bit of yellow and the greens, but definitely the seashell spiral.
Then, I did wine, bright purple, yellow and green. This one I used the circle/ripple effect. Now you just see lighter versions of the colors with the grey background of course.
And I used my HANES V-NECKS! Thank goodness, I am so tired of all the white ones.

There are pictures to come. But it does help with those boring white items of yours...

It'd be cool to do tie-dye underwear... :) just a thought.

Ha.

I bet you thought I died? Eh Eh?!
Well, I am procrastinating from studying for finals, so I thought I'd post polyvore outfits on here instead.

Bring Me A...

So today my apartment-mate and I were sitting in the living room, when she suddenly bursts out singing Steve Winwood's Higher Love. So, I couldn't stop singing the stupidly catchy song, and decided to look up the music video on the all-amazing YouTube.

I couldn't believe it, minus the dated hair and some... odd pieces... I felt like some of that clothing I could easily find at an American Apparel, and other pieces I just really loved!

Check it:

Oh, and I am in LOVE with the main girl's curly hair...

See it Everyday... & FINALLY You Want To PLAY!

So, my college fashion project is underway. Stalking people living around Cal Poly and the Central Coast is sort of fun. But in the meantime, let's talk about something else.

Are there things you see everyday that you just love? I mean to an extent that those colors and objects you see.. you just want to BE THEM. Maybe I'm utterly insane, but there must be someone out there that knows what I'm saying.

Well, let me show you color combos, and just random stuff that I love. Specifically my tiny little living room on campus.

Keep in mind, we're college students, so our goal isn't to have the most expensive stuff and the perfectly matching rug and tablecloth combo.

I just love this pillow... the satin makes it sleek, the color combination is pleasing to my eyes, and the pattern on it is my favorite part.
When I see it, I want to dress with elegant and victorian patterns and wear those exact colors, with some ivory thrown in.

Some doodles my apartment-mate and I drew one evening! They're just sitting around in the living room. They're just so happy, and with spring around the corner, it really helps with picking out clothing, after the warm clothing of the winter is gone.

A tiny part of the view outside. How it influences me? Uh, really I just look at the weather and go from there :). But those leaves are really making me want to wear white and olive.

MMM.... it reminds me of movies that try to portray the 1950's, especially in the UK. The rich colors, but not too bright. And just how they would pair them together. The yellow is the throw rug, the green is fake grass and the red is a blanket that hangs around here. I want to get a school girl blouse, a deep red cardigan and a mustard bag, then go from there!

Also, today after classes I found a white cardboard box that was about to go in the garbage. I salvaged it because we needed something to put our magazines in, then spent a tiny bit of time coloring it. So, here's what it looks like:

Until next time

Lo Siento

Sorry it's been 8,000 years since I've last updated. However, the start of this new quarter has really taken a blow at any leisure time I once had over winter break.

So, I am thinking of starting a project of hunting for college fashion. Although, college fashion, seems to be an oxymoron. On the school days following your lack of sleep from the night before, comfortable jeans and a baggy sweatshirt sound like the perfect choice for school. I'm definitely a victim of it.

Also, what are some things you want to see on here? I would definitely like some of your ideas.

So, let me introduce you to my life at Cal Poly, SLO!

In my Biomedical Engineering Design class, we played with computer generation such as CAD and SolidWorks and made some random objects, and fed them into machines, to make these objects of glue, plastic, so on and so forth.

Many ask what the pendant is supposed to be, really it is just some abstract object, but I guess it sort of looks like a camera

Using some of those tools again, but without going into detail, we worked on the tubing for a phacoemulsifier system or peristaltic pump. Here is an abstract.

And I have a boyfriend that likes to support my interest in fashion, yet could care less about it himself! And... it's sort of an awkward picture of him. He's doing engineering homework. WHATTA NERD!

So, next time I will actually post something useful. I promise!

C'mon, and Take It

"take another little piece of my heart." - Janis Joplin

You've got it, I am channeling Janis Joplin, minus the excessive drug and alcohol abuse.

A white girl out of Texas that sang as soulful as a black woman, arriving in the San Francisco circa via the 1960's. She made her fans overjoyed, excited for the times, wanting a change, and just enjoying rocking out to the tunes.

Now, saying that, the 1960's led to change in politics, stereotypes, prejudices, music, fashion, and must industry in general. So, here's a tribute to you Janis.

Although she doesn't come across as a fashionable nor classically beautiful woman, I look to her for inspiration. Her free spirit and soul make me want to open myself up to be free from trends, and the typical.

So, although I have nothing specific to offer with fashion in relation to her, I would like to leave you to think about why things inspire you in the ways they do.

She inspires me to want to be free and fun, wear my hair crazy and wavy, not match, throw things on. And to not give a crap. I love it. It brings out my best fashion days.

What makes you do that? Inspiration does not solely lie in the pictures we wish to mimic. It does not lie in a 'look' we wish to portray. It carries on with us everyday, in the back of our minds.

However, the tee below wouldn't be so bad...! (not to ruin the moment)

Budget Buying & Creating

Now that Christmas is over, I know I am at least feeling a little broke here. But for those that still need clothes, and don't have much in the bank, here's the perfect blog for you.

1. Look through your closet. Pull out everything you haven't worn in a while. You can do this to those clothes:
a) Look at it and decide you like it. Keep it. Maybe you like it, but it's not quite in style. Well, here's your chance to work it into an outfit. Then, you can have your own fresh style in your wardrobe, and not be constantly sick of the girls that seem to all be wearing the same thing, or all have the same fashionable items on.
b) Revamp it. Maybe it isn't quite long enough anymore, or it's huge. You can cut-up old t-shirts to fit you and have awesome knots and designs. Or maybe something you own is a tad too short but you like it. Use some other fabric and lengthen it into a new shirt. Just revamping it will give you a new wardrobe!
c) Throw it away. Do you really want to waste that closet space? Probably half of the time when you go shopping, you don't know what you need. You think you have your basic t-shirt, or sweater, and skip out on buying a nice new one, instead buying something you really don't need. Giving your old clothing to Goodwill will help other people out, and give you a new chance to see what you need for basics and the like.

2. Go through your parents clothing. (or friends! or siblings!)
I do this all the time. My mother's kept clothes from before 1970! Jewelry too! But, you know your parents can't wear all that of their wardrobe in a day. When my mom realizes she doesn't want things of hers anymore, I scour through her piles of giveaway stuff and take what I like. This gives you another chance to revamp too! My Dad's given me 2 really cool hats before as well. Your friends might want to borrow some of your clothes, and you theirs. Why not switch it up and feel like you have a fresh look from that?

3. Goodwill/Salvation Army/Crossroads/Buffalo Exchange....
The possibilities are endless with this one. Although it might intimidate some people to do this, why not just spend a bit of time in the store looking around for some cool pieces. If it's missing a button but you really like it, don't despair. Buttons are an easy fix. You can find some of the best pieces second hand, without breaking the bank. One item my mom found and was given to me was an old Armani bright red cardigan. They didn't know what they had! And the seam ripped, but it was an easy fix. It's also one of my favorite cardis.

4. Sales
I'm not just talking about after Christmas here. In January in general, there are TONS of sales. Shops have to clear out their 2007 merchandise, so the sales are wonderful. Also, many people are done with shopping for a while, after all that Christmas- and somewhat after Christmas mayhem.

5. Discount Stores
So I love places like Nordstrom Rack, Off Saks 5th Ave., Neiman Marcus Last Call, Marshalls, TJ Maxx. Don't be nervous about the piles of clothes or the fact that it might be discounted because it's ugly. I've found such amazing steals. And look through lots of sections, not just "Juniors" or "Women". People love to put the wrong sizes and clothing in the incorrect areas.

:)

Little Ones, Oh Little Ones

We all know that for the past few years the BIG PURSE has been the it thing. Girls went from their Louis Vuitton speedy to trade them in for their larger Botkiers, MJ totes and the like. However, sometimes it would be a little refreshing, and less painful on the arm to go back to a little purse. Although large clutches for the daytime are coming back, they are impractical when wanting to walk around a store and pick multiple things up.
So instead, we are going to look at some purses that are small to regular size for happy shoulders and shopping!

First let's look at some smaller purses:

Above is Kate Spade's new canaan large bea. Available at katespade.com for $195. It comes in red, black and brown. What I love about this bag is the grained leather and, of course, the size. Inside is lined with a cute polka dot trim. This bag brings you back from trendy to classy. And as you walk around with it in your arm, you can't help but feel like a dainty lady.

Next, we will look at the medium size bag. There are plenty of options out there for this one now. Macy*s carries middle priced ones, Urban Outfitters the same as well. Shopbop.com carries the expensive ones, and Forever 21 carries the least expensive. So, today we'll look at a drool-worthy bag. Vanessa Bruno's small shoulder bag / clutch . Now, I think it's more of a medium size bag, but hey, it still fits the topic.

On shopbop.com for $462. Now, I know this might break the bank, but at least it's beautiful to look at. Almost everyone has a bag that just has smaller straps to throw onto your shoulder. I like the fact that this one has a long strap, to give a different look. The straps are removable though, to keep with the trend of the oversized clutch!
The leather on it is amazing as well. It comes in a brown and a black. Looking at the bag, the body of it has two sides with zippers on it, and when looking from it above, it looks like lips. I LOVE Vanessa Bruno's work.

Until next time...

Apologies.

My apologies for the last angry rant.

Now, onward and forward. It is new years, and it's time for those resolutions! Here are mine:
- to write in my notebook often
- to get my teeth VERY white
- to take better care of my skin
- to lose 10-20 pounds and KEEP IT OFF!

What are some of YOURS?

Onto fashion.
So, I just got my pair of Frye Annie Harness boots, in Cognac, and I think I'm in love. The fit is amazing and they are so comfortable to walk around in. Not to mention they have the most amazing leather I have ever touched. (They also come in a ruddy brown/grey and a black).
$301.95 on Zappos.com

Now, obviously everyone and their mother has a pair of boots this season. The upside about these ones are that they have no heel, and for the stiletto inclined, or heels in general, they are a perfect choice. So, they are fashionable and comfortable. Who'da thunk it?
Outfits that would go with these boots include anything with skinny jeans. Especially the equestrian prep look. For that you'd need a pair of dark skinny jeans, your hair in a braid and thin headband and either a lumberjack button-up fitted shirt or a nice white lacy/chiffony shirt. Another look that would go well with it in the summer would be a chiffon like floral dress with these boots. The possibilities are endless.

Now for beauty!
So it's cold, and it's dry out. You look in the mirror, disappointed by those cracked, pale lips. YUCK! So, here are some choices that I really like:

Softlips in Strawberry. Available at any Target/Walmart/Walgreens/Rite Aid.

The reason why I really enjoy this one, is that it smells sweet, but not too strong. Also, it's inexpensive and easily available. Now, I LOVE Burts Bees, don't get me wrong. But for some reason, that lipbalm just dries out over time. Softlips stays moist and has SPF 15! Good for light people like me!

Another one that I recommend is this:

Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush Lip Balm $7

Sometimes (I know this might be weird), I like to have both a tin of lip balm and a tube. So, I love this tin. Not only is the color cute for the basic female, the texture feels amazing against your lips (like all lip balm) and it has a nice minty taste. And, usually, I don't like Victoria's Secret beauty products. So this one made me VERY pleased. But their underwear? Well, that's a different story!
